Introduction

Throughout the story of Bud, Not Buddy, we followed the life of a young boy trying to stay alive during the Great Depression and find his long lost father.  We read about his hardships, travels and adventures.  Bud challenged his readers to, “walk in someone else’s shoes…”, which is what you will be doing.   The challenge is to try and become Bud Caldwell.  You will research the time of the 1930’s and create a journal of your journeys and discoveries.

Before you move on to your task, take a quick look at the video below to start to get an idea of what life was like and how different it was.  Be sure to examine the faces of all the people in the photographs.
